The Debutante
In what has become a Middle Georgia tradition, the presentation of young ladies to society is an anticipated event. This elaborate event, especially for parents, sponsors, and friends, isthe Debutante Cotillion Ball sponsored by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Epsilon Beta Lambda Foundation. Second to the young ladies’ presentation is the French minuet that is performed by the debutantes and their escorts.
Even though the actual ball is the highlight of the debutante season, many activities are held before the actual event. These activities embrace the best parts of this time-honored tradition, giving perspective debutantes the opportunity to develop an appreciation of their cultural heritage, yet transforming them as they develop their inner beauty.
